Kerim, Tekin and Others: Engin Akyurek
“Engin Akyürek is one of the actors that makes you feel pain, love, action and comedy to the fullest”.
I got to know him when I first watch a TV show, ”Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne?”. The woman he loved reckoned him as the killer of her honor. He paid the price of a sin he never committed. But he, fell in love with the woman who looked at him with disgust. He dressed her wounds with his love. He became the cure for her broken heart with his compassion. Kerim was such an amazing man that Fatmagül understood that he couldn’t be guilty. The man she hated, the man she hesitated to give her hand- at the end, she gave him her heart.
Because she trusted him (It is so hard for a woman who was harassed to trust a man afterwards). She felt safe when she was with him. He felt like family, she finally felt she belonged.
And after that, i watched the movie ”A Little September Affair”. He was co-starring with Farah Zeynep Abdullah in that film. He was acting the ‘perfect man’ in that movie too. Besides, heaven knows why, I’ve never watched that man in a bad role. He would make an amazing godfather though. A reckless, tough guy with a heart of gold. A daughter maybe? Used to be a nice person but got angry to life when his spouse decesead? Then he turns his coat to the ‘dark side’ to avenge her death. With his daughter’s love and a kind woman that came into his love, he’d be good again? We’d see him as the good guy again, in the finale.
Well, that isn’t quite a bad role, now, is it? We can’t blame the producers, he is one of the actors that has one of those looks, we can’t ever think him as the bad guy. But we know he’d rock the bad role, as he does with all these roles.
Now, it’s Ömer’s turn… He’s my favorite. The character that makes my eyes look like hearts are coming out of them when I hear the name ”Engin Akyürek”. The blinding harmony between him and his co-star Tuba Büyüküstün. Murder, crime, black money, Italy, theft… And love, after all is said and done. A story that is one crazy ride, the fascinating affection between Elif and Ömer…
A story that proceeded without breaking it’s setup. Lines that are written by a master’s hand. Events that builds a bridge between Turkey and Italy. Realistic and professional acting. Even the villains are human. You can feel all the emotions being human requires through actors.
If we can watch Elif & Ömer’s scenes with relish no matter how much time has passed, that’s success. What’s with the name Ömer, anyway? All the characters written recently named Ömer are so nice. Someone needs to remind us that boys like that are imaginary.
We watched him on Ölene Kadar as Dağhan. To be honest, I didn’t liked him in that role- His character felt pale beside Ömer’s. People must’ve thought the same because the show didn’t draw interest as much as the others that came before.
As we saw on Kanal D’s new season introduction he’s coming fast and furious. He shaved his beard, so I’m sad a little but his charm haven’t diminished at all.
We hope to see him in great projects for many more years. You are loved, beautiful man.
